Pocumtuc (Deerfield)

The Pocumtuc Native Nation was spread throughout the middle Connecticut River region, especially Franklin County, Massachusetts, but also into Hampden, Hampshire Counties and melding with the Western Abenaki into VT and NH.

They spoke the R-dialect of the Algonquian language.

The Connecticut River was their major resource for transportation for trade, fishing, and sustenance.

Intermarried with present day Abenaki.
